One of the main reasons that people have hip or knee pain is from osteoarthritis or "wear and tear" of their joints. The MSK CIAC Hip and Knee Program provides adults with moderate to severe hip or knee osteoarthritis with an assessment to determine if they may need joint replacement surgery.
MSK CIAC is the one point of contact in the Hamilton Niagara Haldimand Brant Local Health Integration Network (HNHB LHIN) for referrals for adults with moderate to severe osteoarthritis of their hip or knee. The HNHB LHIN includes Hamilton, Niagara, Haldimand, Brant, Burlington and most of Norfolk county.
Hip and knee assessments take place at Assessment Centres located in Hamilton, Brantford, Burlington and Niagara. Patients will be booked for an assessment at the location closest to their home, or they may choose the first available assessment at any of the locations within the region or at a preferred location.

Patients are assessed within four weeks by an Advanced Practice Provider (Physiotherapist) with specialized training in hip and knee osteoarthritis.
